With amazing scenery, rolling hills, and brush that span for miles the 101 freeway can be the perfect route for an escape out of LA! Take the highway frequently traveled and you’ll eventually find yourself a jackpot. This time we stumbled upon 101 North Eatery and Bar. Lead by Michelin star Chef Anthony, 101 North Eatery & Bar provides high end comfort food for the average consumer.
Located in Westlake Village, 101 North Eatery & Bar’s Head Chef Anthony Alaimo has won many notable awards throughout his career including a Michelin Star and several Forbes 5 Stars.
“To me, a Michelin star means that hard work and working together as a team really does pay off. Obtaining a Michelin star is not something that somebody can earn on their own so I take a lot of pride in what my team and I accomplished,” exclaimed Chef Anthony. “Earning a Michelin Star as a chef was a huge milestone in my career and I will forever feel humbled and thankful.”
The eatery recently celebrated their one year anniversary as they continue to bring a downtown Los Angeles ambiance to Westlake Village. The restaurant is bringing multifaceted flavors to the forefront in a unique way.
“Instead of focusing on a particular cuisine, 101 North differs because our cuisine does not have a specific identity. We call ourselves a “New American restaurant with a Mediterranean influence” Chef Anthony shared. “This way, we are not obligated to prepare dishes that are categorized in a specific cuisine. We are able to cook with a variety of ingredients and switch out dishes as the seasons change. By not defining ourselves as any particular cuisine, it gives us the opportunity to get creative and use fresh, seasonal ingredients year round.”
With such an extensive menu, diners can expect an array of flavors that are simply delectable! The short rib sliders are truly divine. Tender braised short rib topped with balsamic glaze, celery and apple salad. It’s a well-rounded starter that you won’t want to miss. The Yellowtail Ceviche is topped with watermelon radish, calabrian chili, complete with fried yucca “chips.” It’s equally refreshing and beyond cravable. The Baked Meatball Pomodoro is another fine option. Strauss Farms grass-fed beef, herbed ricotta – how can you say no?!
While we opted to pass on the salads, there were plenty of them floating around the restaurant to various diners. To be honest, I typically will skip grabbing a pizza simply because they tend to be pretty generic at dining establishments. However, I’m glad I didn’t skip over this one. The Funghi Pizza layers a variety of flavors that will melt in your mouth. Comprised of roasted mushrooms, tallegio, thyme, caramelized onions, and Ligurian olives – it’s the best kind of experiment!
