From the Backstreet (Boys) to the OC (Real Housewives of), reality stars from near and far were in attendance for the 11th Annual American Reality Television Awards (ARTAS). Any reality TV watcher will tell you that reality stars bring a unique energy to the screen. It’s confirmed they bring that same unique energy in real life. The buzz in the air at the ARTAS, held November 18, 2024 in Hollywood, California, was vibrant, excited and appreciative. Reality stars are thankful for their rise to fame and aren’t afraid to say so. The world of reality TV is a strong community, and crosses over, where stars from one show bond with those of another. The red carpet at the ARTAS felt like a family reunion.
When it comes to reality TV there would be no show without a cast of characters, and casting is truly what makes a great reality show. Emmy award winning casting director Erin Tomasselo shared her secret, to always look for personality, perspective and people with storied backgrounds. Jacqui Pitman who helped cast the Golden Bachelor thanked her cast for being generous with their heart and their lives. A good reality TV personality is someone willing to be raw and vulnerable with their emotions – that, paired with a great concept and incredible crew, is the heart of reality TV, and what the ARTAS celebrate.
For over a decade, the ARTAS has honored exceptional achievements in the world of unscripted television, celebrating the creators of unforgettable moments both on-screen and behind the scenes. This years show was hosted by 2023 ARTAS winner for Outstanding Podcast, Heather McDonald, a talented comedian, actress, and the host of the hit podcast “Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald. “We are thrilled to be bringing this incredible event to life,” said Executive Producers Andrew Ward and Kristen Moss. “Our goal is to create a night of unforgettable moments that celebrate the very best in entertainment. We can’t wait to share this special evening with the world.” The 11th Annual ARTAS was directed by Steve Moss.
